Granite
- Slate won't etch, burn and it's non porous too which makes the maintenance fairly simple.

- Slate is durable, waterproof and may be colorful. Hence does not react with acids.

- If Slate scratched, mineral oil can make the scratches disappear.

- Slate won't absorb water and liquids as readily as a marble will.
- The uneven surface texture makes Slate a poor choice for countertops.

- The layers in the colorful styles may separate if exposed to freezing weather.
